Last week for 4 days we saw teams from all over Queensland come together to compete in the 10 -12 years Football State Championships at Highfields Sport & Rec Park.
There were a number of our Under 11 & 12 SAP players that were selected for the Darling Downs team. Under 11 players – Eli McBurney, Rhys Cooper, Iskcon Gyawali, Xavier Burge, Tyler Stead, Ethan Thomspon Under 12 players - Jarryd Dolan, Lachlan Daley, Lachlan McErvale and Matthew Lawson We also had two boys in the Wide Bay team – Cameron Stronge from under 11 and Stuart Howlett from Under 12. This was a massive achievement from the Thunder teams, to have so many players selected, to play at the Championships.They won some games and lost some games. New friendships were made, and old ones strengthened as they played for each other.
The competition was fierce, and the weather unpredictable, but the boys rose to all the challenges and some very entertaining football was played. Natalie Lawson
