Great News for Thunder!!!!

South West Queensland Thunder is pleased to announce Mike Mulvey as our new Technical Director.

Mike has a long and distinguished football pedigree over a long period of time.

Mike was the coach of the Brisbane Roar leading them to the Premiership and Championship glory in the 2014 season as well as coaching the Central Coast Mariners, Gold Coast United, and Melbourne Victory W League team.

Mike also worked within the QAS for over 10 years which saw him develop a number of players that have gone on to higher honours.

South West Queensland Thunder believes that Mike is a huge addition to the club and the South West Queensland football community as a whole.

In (what we believe) is an Australian first relationship, South West Queensland Thunder and the Toowoomba Grammar School have reached a Memorandum of Understanding where Mike will also be the First Eleven Head Coach at Toowoomba Grammar School and provide support to the Toowoomba Grammar coaches.

This MOU is a first between a semi-professional club and a school and provides both organisations not only the ability to attract such a high-level coach, but also combine resources to ensure that football is continually developed within the region.

This couldn’t have been achieved without the hard work of Peter Broadfoot, Chris McLeod, John Anderson & Steve Fryer from Toowoomba Grammar.

Mike’s role within South West Queensland Thunder includes working with and developing our Boys & SAP program which is Under 9 through to Under 16. However, with Mike’s experience in football, he will also work with our Senior Men’s & Ladies teams from time to time and provide a sounding board to our Women’s Technical Director, Kris Hemmerling.

We are looking forward to having Mike as part of our club and the benefits it will bring to football in the region.
