CLUB BOARD

At South West Queensland Thunder Football Club, our mission is to provide a quality football education that enables each player to maximise their potential and underpin on field performance through continuous improvement.

As a club, we continue to produce players who continue their football journey through selection in State teams, the National Training Centre, opportunities overseas with NSR Scholarships, and trials with various professional clubs in the Hyundai A-League, Europe and elsewhere. Of interest, in a 2015 Senior Mens fixture, there were 2 players in the squad for our opposition who came through the South West Queensland football pathway.

A number of clubs in the National Premier Leagues competition have been in existence for over 50 years. It will take time to develop from a junior to a senior club, but given the talent coming through the ranks, I have no doubt that SWQ Thunder FC will become a thorn in the side of our more fancied opposition in years to come. SWQ Thunder FC is one of only two clubs in the National Premier Leagues playing in Queensland to field a full compliment of teams, from the Skills Acquisition Program through to Seniors. This is a significant achievement. Our Juniors continue to develop technically as our coaches embrace the FFA National Curriculum, and our Senior footballers continue to punch well above their weight. The young Senior Men's squad from 2015 has been bolstered with some senior recruits in the off season.

Our Board has a clear vision of where we need to be and what the club will look like 20 years from now. The future is built on a solid foundation, and I would like to acknowledge the contribution and dedication of past Directors, Committee Members and Volunteers.

We are fortunate to have the long-term support of our Sponsors.

Ongoing corporate support is critical to enable the growth of the club, and we would love to hear from your business if you are interested in a strategic business partnership.

We will also need continued help and support of our members to achieve these goals. If everyone does a little, no one does a lot.

Our Board of Directors are also volunteers.

We are working with you, not for you, on the success of the club. If you have ideas on how the club can move forward, please feel free to e-mail me at swqthunderfc@gmail.com.

SWQ THUNDER GOALS

  • Ongoing development of our coaching staff to the highest levels inclusive of coach acquisition and retention as we expand our footprint in the South West Queensland football community

  • Continued expansion of the clubs football programs including a partnership with Football South West Queensland to provide development opportunities and talent identification outside of the major regional centres

  • Continue to lobby the Toowoomba Regional Council and the State Government to secure long term facilities and infrastructure to provide a permanent home for the club

  • Increase the level of professionalism within our senior squad by providing benefits that offset our rivals significant player wage budgets
